THEME FOR 2024: EXPLORING THE DIGITAL FRONTIER

During our time together, we will explore how emerging technologies are impacting business library services and resources and advancing business librarianship. The buzz-worthy topic of artificial intelligence will be discussed, but there are many ways technological applications are shaking up our profession and bringing new opportunities. We encourage everyone to think big about the possibilities around teaching methods, research techniques, collections, management, and scholarly pursuits.

Logistics and Details

• Sterling Library opens at 8:30 AM.
• Library Security staff are available at both entrances to to Sterling Library. You will not need to show ID to enter the Library during the day.
• The Memorabilia Room and Lecture Hall are on the first floor of Sterling Library and located at the end of the Exhibition Corridor, across from the Manuscripts and Archives Reading Room. Download a map of the first floor of Sterling Memorial Library
• Temperatures in Sterling Library can vary, and dressing in layers is recommended.
• Dress for the meeting tends to be business to smart casual. Please dress for comfort, as most events are within walking distance.

Arrivals & Check-in

Attendees can pick up their name badges on Tuesday, April 23, from 2:00-4:30 PM in the Sterling Memorial Library International Room. Check-in will also be available during breakfast on Wednesday, April 24, from 8:30-9:00 AM. 

Optional Events on Tuesday

• A campus tour will be offered on Tuesday, April 23 from 2:30-3:45PM. The tour will leave from the Yale Visitor Center at 149 Elm Street and will end at the Yale Bookstore at 77 Broadway. The bookstore is a short walk from the York Street entrance of Sterling Library.
•  A tour of Sterling Memorial Library is scheduled on Tuesday from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. Please meet near the security desk in the Sterling Library Nave to join . This tour will be offered again on Friday at 1:30 PM.  If you are interested in joining the Friday tour of Sterling Library, please let Erin know by April 24. 

Wi-Fi & Technology 

• Eduroam - Visitors from other Eduroam-affiliated institutions can select this network by logging in with their home university ID. It is recommended that you set up and test your access to the Eduroam network prior to traveling.

• Yale Guest - Visitors who don’t have an ID from an Eduroam-affiliated institution can use this network. 

Business Meeting

The Business Meeting will be held on Friday, April 26 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This will be a hybrid event, and all ABLD members are encouraged to attend in-person or online.  The Board meeting minutes on the ABLD website can provide helpful background information for some agenda items.

Hartford/Springfield Bradley International Airport (BDL) is 53 miles from campus in Windsor Locks, CT.  Information about ground transportation is available here. 

Tweed New Haven Airport is 10 minutes from the Yale campus and offers service through Avelo Air exclusively. Taxis and rideshares (Lyft only) are available from Tweed.
